Senior Academic Integrity Investigator

Role overview

The University of the Sunshine Coast is looking for a Senior Academic Integrity Investigator to join the Centre for Learning and Teaching at the Sunshine Coast campus in Sippy Downs. This ongoing full-time position is based on a 36.25-hour work week and sits at Level 8 with a salary range of $118,986 to $134,756 per annum, plus employer superannuation of up to 17%.

In this role, you will help protect the university’s academic standards by leading detailed investigations into suspected student academic misconduct and supporting the delivery of the Academic Integrity Matters function. Working in partnership with the Academic Integrity Lead, you will contribute to service quality, provide expert guidance on policy and regulation, mentor investigators, and support ongoing improvements to academic integrity practices.

Key duties

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of the academic integrity investigation function across the university, making sure investigations are conducted consistently, fairly, and in line with compliance requirements. You will also manage and review complex misconduct cases, advise on findings and outcomes, and help identify patterns and emerging risks. In addition, you will contribute to policy enhancement, stakeholder communication, capability development for investigators, governance support, and reporting informed by data.

The university is seeking someone with strong investigative judgement, advanced analytical ability, and the confidence to handle sensitive and complex matters with professionalism and discretion. You should be comfortable balancing regulatory obligations, risk considerations, and educational outcomes while building productive relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. A collaborative leadership style and a genuine interest in strengthening systems, coaching others, and improving processes will be highly valued.

Selection criteria

• Postgraduate study in a relevant area, ideally with a strong analytical or data-focused component, or substantial equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience handling complex investigations, preferably in higher education or another highly regulated setting, along with familiarity with procedural fairness, governance, and regulatory requirements.
• Well-developed analytical, critical thinking, and digital investigation capability, including the ability to assess evidence, spot patterns, and use technology to support investigations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide specialist advice, shape decisions, and engage effectively with people in sensitive situations.
• Experience supervising, guiding, or mentoring others, along with a track record of improving operational systems and managing multiple priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong organisation, and a clear commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and quality outcomes.
