Job description
Position overview
As a Self-Checkout Attendant with Walmart Canada, you’ll help create a smooth and positive shopping experience by guiding customers through self-service checkout and delivering friendly, attentive support. This role is well suited to someone interested in retail or customer service and looking to build practical skills in a busy store environment.
Key duties
- Maintain a tidy, orderly self-checkout area that is free from clutter, spills, loose fixtures, and other obstructions.
- Show customers how to use self-service checkout features properly and efficiently when needed.
- Support in-store promotional initiatives such as credit card offers, product protection plans, and charity campaigns, where applicable.
- Monitor customer activity to recognize when assistance may be required.
- When an intervention or quality check is needed, explain the process respectfully and reassure customers that these checks are a standard part of self-serve checkout.
- Understand how to respond to EAS alarms and complete the Failure to Deactivate log.
- Notify the Customer Service Manager if the self-checkout area is short on cash or experiences a technical problem.
- Return Scan & Go scanners to their designated storage location after use.
Pay information
The starting minimum hourly wage for this role is $18.00.
Minimum qualifications
You must be at least 16 years old to be considered for this position.
