Job description

Position Overview

Joining Walmart Canada as a Self Checkout Attendant provides an excellent chance to develop strong customer service skills while gaining exposure to retail operations. The role involves enhancing the customer shopping experience by delivering friendly support and assistance in the self-checkout section.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the self-checkout area to be clean, safe, orderly, and free from clutter, spills, or other obstructions.
  • Promote Walmart's initiatives such as credit card offerings, product protection plans, and charitable campaigns when relevant.
  • Assist customers in utilizing self-checkout stations efficiently, monitoring ongoing activity, resolving issues, and escalating cash or technical challenges to management.
  • Respond promptly and correctly to electronic article surveillance (EAS) alarms and document incidents accurately.
  • Ensure Scan & Go devices are returned to their proper storage after use.
  • Exhibit flexibility with work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support operational needs.

Work Environment Challenges

  • Manage high volumes of tasks in a fast-paced setting, particularly through overnight shifts, maintaining focus and energy.
  • Perform physical duties such as standing for prolonged periods, bending, and lifting items up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform repetitive stocking, zoning, and organizing with consistent attention to detail to uphold store standards.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this role is $15.50.
