About the Opportunity

Mitre 10 MEGA is thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of its new store at The Sands in Papamoa, Bay of Plenty. Locally owned and operated, this store is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and practical home improvement solutions. We are seeking two committed loss prevention/security team members to join us at this exciting phase, working 40 hours weekly over five days, including one weekend day.

Role Overview

As a Loss Prevention Team Member, you will play a critical role in minimizing store shrinkage by recognizing, deterring, and reporting risks such as theft, compliance breaches, and process weaknesses. You will help maintain a secure environment for customers and staff by actively monitoring, auditing, and enforcing strong safety and loss prevention protocols across the store.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct patrols in designated high-risk zones and continuously monitor CCTV for any suspicious activity.
• Assist store personnel with de-escalation techniques and manage incidents safely.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain evidence logs, collaborating with store management and law enforcement when necessary.
• Perform audits on critical areas including refunds, high-value merchandise, and secured stock.
• Implement loss prevention safety measures such as safe distancing, use of communication radios, duress protocols, and proper escalation following store guidelines.

Candidate Profile

• Strong observational skills paired with situational awareness and composed decision-making.
• Excellent communication abilities with professionalism in interaction and meticulousness in reporting.
• High integrity and discretion with the capacity to handle confidential information responsibly.
• Proficiency or willingness to quickly learn CCTV systems, incident reporting tools, and evidence management.
• Solid understanding of loss prevention policies, legal frameworks, and safe incident escalation procedures.
• Awareness and adherence to health and safety practices relating to conflict and emergency situations.
