Position Overview
The Security & Public Safety Analyst II plays a vital role in supporting airport security and emergency response activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations. This position assists in managing security programs and coordinates with internal teams and external public safety agencies to maintain a safe and secure environment at one of the nation's busiest airports.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily security and public safety operations, including Airport Security Coordinator duties and management of programs such as employee screening, AED administration, and business continuity planning.
- Assist in emergency response to security incidents and breaches.
- Interpret regulatory requirements and ensure operational compliance.
- Conduct security assessments, drills, and awareness initiatives, representing programs at committees and panels.
- Collaborate with internal departments, contractors, and public safety partners to address issues and enhance initiatives.
- Support program development including process improvement, report and budget preparation, and industry knowledge advancement.
- Perform operational tasks requiring driving within secured Airport Operations Areas using Authority vehicles.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in aviation management, public administration, security, emergency management, or related field.
- At least three years of progressive experience in aviation security or emergency preparedness administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license with ability to be insured under Authority’s vehicle insurance policy.
- Successful completion of background checks including fingerprinting and training for Authority security equipment use.
- Obtain Airport Security Coordinator (ASC) designation within nine months of hire.
Preferred Credentials
Certifications such as AAAE CM or AAE, ACE Security, or ACE Airside Operations are advantageous.
Work Environment and Requirements
This role encompasses a hybrid work schedule requiring some in-person work at the Airport Authority Administration building on the San Diego International Airport campus. Driving is an essential function involving regular use of Authority vehicles within restricted security areas, with adherence to all safety policies and regulations. Physical and mental demands will be accommodated as necessary. The hiring range is $99,738 to $114,698 annually with a full salary range from $76,722 to $122,754.
