Job description
Position Overview
The Security Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining safety and security across the property. Responsibilities involve patrolling all areas, assisting guests with room access, monitoring surveillance systems like CCTV, perimeter alarms, duress alarms, and fire life safety systems. The officer is entrusted with securing entrances when necessary and performing daily inspections to identify physical hazards.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to accidents, administer first aid or CPR, and summon emergency services when required.
- Assist guests and employees during emergencies and manage disturbances by defusing situations and, if needed, seek external help.
- Document any incidents related to security or loss prevention through comprehensive reports.
- Handle interruptions, complaints, and manage hazardous situations to ensure the safety of all on the premises.
- Escort unwanted individuals off the property without disrupting operations.
- Respond to vehicle-related incidents on the property and use correct code procedures when calling for assistance.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding security and property documentation, releasing information only to authorized personnel.
- Carry out investigations by gathering evidence and conducting interviews with involved parties.
- Adhere rigorously to company policies and safety protocols, report unsafe conditions, undertake safety training, and maintain professional appearance standards.
- Provide courteous service to guests, anticipate their needs, assist persons with disabilities, and express genuine appreciation.
- Communicate clearly, maintain precise documentation, and nurture positive teamwork dynamics.
- Comply with quality assurance standards and be physically able to stand, sit, or walk for extended durations.
- Perform physical tasks such as moving or lifting objects up to 50 pounds unaided and heavier items with assistance.
- Navigate various terrains, including narrow, uneven, or slippery surfaces, stairs, and ramps.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to read and verify information accurately, including small text.
- Should be capable of visually inspecting equipment for defects.
- Required to use computers or point of sale systems to enter and retrieve work-related data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- No prior related work or supervisory experience required.
- Licenses or certifications are not mandatory for this role.
