Job description
Job Overview
The Security Guard will be responsible for patrolling designated zones to maintain the safety of Norwegian Refugee Council's personnel, facilities, and assets, identifying and reporting any irregularities or threats promptly.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patrols within assigned areas to safeguard NRC staff, buildings, and property.
- Identify and immediately report any abnormalities or hazards, including fire, water leaks, or unauthorized individuals.
- Inspect perimeter security features such as gates, doors, fences, lighting, and barbed wire to ensure they remain secure and untampered.
- Mitigate effects of any security breaches by alerting occupants, requesting support, and assisting with evacuations or necessary responses.
- Maintain a constant presence at the main gate to prevent unauthorized access, allowing entry and exit exclusively to authorized personnel and vehicles.
- Verify the legitimate identification of all visitors and document their entry and exit in the Visitors Book.
- Ensure visitors meet the designated individuals and maintain accurate records of staff and visitors inside the compound.
- Receive and screen mail, packages, and other deliveries for risk, logging all received items.
- Ensure proper handover procedures when transitioning shifts with replacement guards.

- Prior experience as a guard in humanitarian or recovery environments.
- Background working in complex and unstable settings.
- Demonstrated success in fulfilling similar security responsibilities.
- Proficiency in English and Arabic languages.

Performance Management
The guard's performance will be regularly assessed based on the job description, development plans, performance review templates, and the NRC Competency Framework.
