Role overview

The Environment, Health & Safety Executive will be responsible for shaping, rolling out, and improving policies and procedures that protect the wellbeing of people working across Abu Dhabi events and sites. This position supports site teams in building and maintaining HS&E practices, while also advising site leadership on environment, health, and safety matters tied to day-to-day operations.

Core responsibilities

  • Maintain and refresh information within health and safety manuals and management systems.
  • Help ensure site operating plans include safe-work provisions by maintaining the organization’s health and safety strategy, system, manuals, and guidelines, and by tracking how well these are applied by site teams, service providers, and customers.
  • Support the development of health and safety proposals and plans for site operations, coordinate with relevant sections, and help secure the approvals required from senior management.
  • Assist in delivering health and safety initiatives and contribute to ongoing improvements in standards across cultural sites, service providers, and customers.
  • Support the management of health and safety risks by contributing to risk assessments and reviewing how well risk controls are working across DCT entities and service providers.
  • Serve as a main support lead for training and monitoring risk management activities and related processes across Abu Dhabi sites.
  • Support regular compliance checks and health and safety audits to confirm alignment with regulatory requirements and guidance.
  • Help develop and put emergency response plans into practice, including evacuation procedures and accident response readiness.
  • Assist in training emergency responders such as fire wardens and first aid providers, and help ensure employees understand and are prepared for the correct response actions.
  • Work with DCT departments to make sure inspection activities follow the approved standards.
  • Translate functional strategy into section business plans and ensure alignment across related teams and functions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and practices with attention to global standards, productivity gains, sustainability, and cost efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties connected to the role when requested by the direct manager.
  • Implement functional policies, procedures, and controls so that legal and procedural requirements are met while delivering a reliable and cost-effective service.
  • Follow all departmental policies, SOPs, processes, and instructions to keep work consistent and controlled.
  • Act in line with the organization’s values and ethics at all times.
  • Support continuous improvement and the sustainability of systems and practices.

Working relationships

Internal: Relevant DCT sectors and departments

External: Key vendors and suppliers, government entities, service providers and consulting firms, relevant federal and local authorities, and Abu Dhabi Systems Information Committee (ADSIC)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, or another relevant degree within a related industry.

Experience

  • At least 2 to 5 years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety.

Skills

  • Professional English communication, both written and spoken
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Knowledge of documentation used for digital projects, such as scope of work and project brief
  • Understanding of technical and digital markets and current user trends
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Strong interpersonal communication and stakeholder coordination
  • Ability to work independently and deliver tasks on time
  • Familiarity with business software tools and related industry software
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Additional information

This role includes accountability for overall HS&E governance across Abu Dhabi sites and requires coordination with multiple internal and external stakeholders. The position also carries responsibility for compliance, emergency preparedness, training support, and ongoing process improvement.
