Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Anatomical Pathologist to lead the Anatomical Pathology Section, ensuring clinical leadership, diagnostic precision, and adherence to quality standards in line with CAP and CBAHI guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert diagnoses in histopathology and cytopathology.
- Provide reports for surgical pathology, biopsies, cytology, and frozen sections.
- Engage actively in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Maintain diagnostic accuracy and meet turnaround time goals.
- Lead and oversee the Anatomical Pathology section staff, including pathologists, technologists, and trainees.
- Develop and enforce policies, standard operating procedures, and workflows.
- Track performance metrics such as turnaround times, quality control, and workload.
- Ensure compliance with CAP and CBAHI accreditation standards.
- Manage quality management systems and lead internal audits, external proficiency testing, and inspections.
- Handle incident reporting and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide training, mentorship, and continuing medical education to staff and residents.
- Encourage research activities and evidence-based practice implementation.
Qualifications and Skills
- MD degree in Anatomical Pathology.
- Board certification in Anatomical Pathology (such as Arab Board, European, or American Board).
- Valid Consultant classification/license from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of relevant experience, including leadership roles.
- Experience working in CAP-accredited laboratories is highly desirable.
- Advanced expertise in histopathology and cytology diagnostics.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of quality systems and accreditation standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capacity to manage heavy workloads and complex cases effectively.
