Position Details
This is a term, full-time position based in Winnipeg at the MacCharles location within the Nutrition Services department. The role is unionized under CUPE FS, with a 1.0 FTE schedule. The anticipated shift is days, with 7.75 hours worked per day and 2,015 annual base hours. The assignment begins on July 13, 2026 and continues indefinitely, covering an absence for other leave.

Role Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Patient & Family Support Services and supervised by the Administrative Assistant, the Secretary III provides reception and secretarial support for the Hope & Healing Program.
Key Duties
The incumbent will welcome patients and families, manage incoming calls, arrange patient appointments—mainly for nutrition services—handle program registration, take minutes, prepare correspondence and purchase orders, distribute resources and promotional materials, maintain files, place supply orders, track inventory, and support special projects and other related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
A recognized administrative training program from an accredited educational institution is required. Applicants should have at least two years of secretarial experience, typing speed of 50 words per minute, and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Additional strengths include familiarity with medical terminology, accurate minute-taking, strong attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines. The role also calls for excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, customer service, and problem-solving skills, along with a caring and compassionate manner when working with patients and families. Candidates should be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team that includes clinical and support staff.
Preferred Experience
Experience in a healthcare environment and in a unionized workplace is considered an advantage.
Other Requirements
Applicants must have a satisfactory employment record, be legally permitted to work in Canada, and may be asked to provide French language ability, which would be considered an asset.
