Job description
Overview
The Baltimore Orioles are looking to hire a Rehab Strength & Conditioning Assistant for the Minor League Baseball 2026 season. The incumbent will support the Rehab Strength & Conditioning Coordinator by assisting with the implementation and day-to-day management of the Orioles' rehab strength and conditioning initiatives at their complex in Sarasota, Florida.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and administer daily strength and conditioning activities as guided by the Rehab Coordinator.
- Provide supervision and instruction for weight training and conditioning programs aligned with the rehab protocols.
- Lead warm-ups, pre-practice preparations, post-game routines, and attend medical meetings.
- Maintain and update organizational data through athlete management software and generate periodic reports.
- Design, deliver, and modify strength and conditioning programs as necessary, following the Baltimore Orioles' frameworks.
- Conduct regular movement and power assessments adhering to department testing procedures, including weekly and monthly evaluations.
- Work collaboratively with team medical personnel and coaching staff to optimize athlete rehabilitation and conditioning.
- Assist in movement analysis and application of corrective strategies.
- Run performance tests, set target goals for each test, and lead warm-up protocols related to these assessments.
- Collect and manage performance data effectively.
- Potentially travel with the Florida Complex League (FCL) team.
- Support continuity of rehab programs and schedules at affiliate levels.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or a related discipline is mandatory.
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential from the NSCA is required.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- A sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- A growth-oriented mindset with willingness to learn.
- Strong aptitude in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Criteria
- Prior experience with baseball sports.
- Exposure to rehabilitation environments.
- Aspirations towards a career in baseball strength coaching or rehab practice.
- Familiarity with PRI (Postural Restoration Institute), FMS (Functional Movement Screen), Velocity Based Training, and workload monitoring.
- Ability to work cohesively across multiple departments within a baseball organization.
- Proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
