Job description

Position overview

The Town of Grimshaw is seeking a seasonal Arena Attendant for the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex for the 2026 season. This role is centered on customer service, practical organization, and the ability to work on your own while keeping arena operations running smoothly.

Applicants should be comfortable with regular interaction with the public, facility upkeep, and operational tasks that support ice and building use.

Primary responsibilities

  • Deliver helpful, professional service to a diverse range of arena visitors and user groups.
  • Follow safe work practices consistently across all assigned tasks.
  • Track ice surface and dressing room bookings so that users stay within their approved time slots.
  • Apply all facility rules, policies, and regulations as required.
  • Check the ice plant and record readings in the logbook.
  • Operate the Zamboni to provide floods for user groups.
  • Follow the required dress code.

Custodial and facility care

  • Coordinate with the facility custodian to keep the Multiplex in a clean, healthy, and sanitary condition.
  • Clean entry and exit floor areas.
  • Wash and disinfect washroom floors, toilets, seats, hand dryers, and other fixtures, and clean mirrors.
  • Clean temporary glass around the ice boards and the viewing windows inside and outside the concession area.
  • Refill toilet paper, hand towel, and soap dispensers in washrooms and dressing rooms.
  • Empty garbage bins and move collected waste to the exterior garbage bin.
  • Clean the front entrance and all exits, including glass, doors, and hardware.
  • Help keep outdoor entrances and exits free of snow and debris.
  • Report damage and any vandalism.
  • Maintain daily shift records covering facility use, completed duties, and maintenance schedules.
  • Spot clean walls when needed.
  • Troubleshoot minor issues as they arise.
  • Keep the Zamboni room, mechanical room, janitorial room, equipment, and supplies organized and secure.
  • Note any needed equipment or building repairs.
  • Complete other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
  • Attend training sessions and monthly meetings.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with other Multiplex staff.
  • Help maintain building security.
  • Provide first aid in emergency situations when necessary.
  • Be available for special events that may take place outside normal operating hours.
