Job Summary

The role involves leading and supporting projects that validate novel drug targets by evaluating small molecule effects on protein function and stability both in vitro and in cellular models. This includes developing cell-based and biochemical assays, employing Vividion's proprietary chemical proteomics platform, and testing tool compounds on proteins across different biological settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to assess small molecule impacts on protein behavior and activity.
• Develop and implement biochemical and cellular assays to evaluate drug target validation.
• Utilize proprietary chemical proteomics technology for drug discovery applications.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to advance novel drug programs targeting challenging proteins.

Requirements

• PhD with postdoctoral research in biochemistry, chemical biology, cell biology, or related fields.
• Over five years of post-PhD industry experience in chemistry, chemical biology, or pharmaceutical chemistry.
• Proficient molecular biology capabilities, including DNA cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, CRISPR techniques, transient transfection, viral transduction, and gene expression analysis.
• Experienced in protein expression analysis methods such as western blot, ELISA, or equivalent.
• Hands-on expertise in mammalian cell culture, microscopy, and functional phenotypic assays (including 2D and 3D cell viability, soft agar assays, apoptosis assays).
• Competence in mass spectrometry for chemical proteomics and a solid grasp of chemical principles and structure-activity relationships.
• Thorough understanding of protein-ligand interactions, measurement techniques, and characterization of downstream functional consequences.
• Excellent communication skills demonstrated through presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and effective troubleshooting in research settings.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, managing multiple priorities with high-quality outcomes under deadlines.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers a base salary range of $120,000 to $155,000, influenced by skills, experience, and education. Additional compensation includes eligibility for performance bonuses, long-term incentives, a 401(k) plan with company match, and comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage.
