About the Fellowship and Company
This opportunity is with BioChromatographix International, a startup supported by SGInnovate's Helix Immersion Programme. Helix is a 12-month on-the-job training program aimed at creating career paths in Deep Tech for biomedical researchers and academics by equipping them with industry-applicable skills and technical-business expertise.
Role Overview
BioChromatographix develops new chromatography media for purifying viruses and other biological substances. The Scientist will work in the Singapore laboratory under the guidance of the Director of Technical Development and Manufacturing, focusing on developing and manufacturing biotherapeutics using aseptic cell culture and assessing purification methods via chromatography columns. The role includes performing assays to measure purification efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop experimental protocols to assess chromatography media.
- Conduct experiments and analyze samples to characterize performance.
- Maintain laboratory instrumentation and manage consumables inventory.
- Document experimental results, prepare technical reports, and develop presentations.
- Set up and carry out manufacturing processes, coordinating with external experts to refine workflows and parameters.
- Production management of chromatography columns ensuring timelines align with marketing schedules.
- Collaborate closely with Quality Control and Quality Assurance teams.
- Work alongside marketing professionals, participate in client meetings, and lead application studies including protocol drafting and reporting.
- Prepare application notes and white papers.
- Perform additional technical tasks related to the project as needed.
Candidate Requirements
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a closely related discipline.
- Between 2 to 4 years of practical experience in cell culture, protein purification, and bioassay methodologies.
- Proficient with laboratory analytical techniques such as qPCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, SDS-PAGE, and Western blot.
- Competent in statistical data analysis, utilizing tools like Excel and GraphPad Prism.
- Strong communication capabilities, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
