Job description

Position Overview

The Scientific Change Management Consultant is part of Zifo's North American consulting division, focusing on developing and implementing change management strategies while managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. This role is responsible for steering medium to high complexity change management and consulting projects with clients, working closely with scientific business analysts and other collaborators to ensure project success. It combines expertise in change management, science, industry knowledge, and informatics to deliver comprehensive solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification of change requirements within projects and design and implement effective change management strategies, sometimes overseeing other team members to ensure smooth transformation.
  • Contribute to building internal change management capabilities by developing toolkits and training team members inside and outside consulting.
  • Engage with external change management leaders in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and agritech sectors to exchange knowledge and enhance Zifo’s visibility in this field.
  • Serve as a project leader by defining success metrics, employing active listening, collaboration, ownership, and tailoring communication to varied audiences.
  • Take ownership of business analysis outputs such as requirements documentation, data and process maps, workflows, gap analysis, roadmaps, and evaluation methods.
  • Perform vendor assessments and develop strategies to inform decision-making for pharmaceutical, biotech, and agritech clients.
  • Analyze IT, informatics, and data system landscapes and assist in creating strategic roadmaps.
  • Manage substantial projects or programs by overseeing estimation, timelines, risk, and milestones.
  • Facilitate meetings, provide project updates, and manage escalation of issues as necessary.
  • Mentor associates to aid their project involvement and career progress.
  • Monitor key project indicators to ensure client satisfaction and operational excellence in project delivery.
  • Act as main contact for clients and internal teams, balancing expectations related to processes, quality, scheduling, and delivery with a holistic view of success.
  • Build strong relationships with client managers and help drive strategic meetings.
  • Identify opportunities to add value both within client organizations and internal workflows.
  • Plan, track, and report on billable efforts, manage utilization and productivity, and assist in budget forecasting.
  • Oversee escalations and risks, initiate corrective and preventive actions, and promote continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support internal training initiatives by preparing materials and mentoring staff in developing areas.
  • Contribute to business development by assisting in proposals, responding to RFPs, and producing case studies, presentations, and white papers.
  • Participate in industry conferences to learn, network, and represent Zifo.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in scientific disciplines such as biology, chemistry, chem/bioinformatics, or related fields.
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical R&D, biotechnology, or agritech industries.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead problem-solving efforts, influence stakeholders, and explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Knowledge of leading scientific informatics platforms like ELN or LIMS.
  • Understanding of key life sciences data concepts and their application to operational activities and decision-making.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams and manage project deliverables and expectations.
  • Capability to operate under ambiguous conditions and clarify problems and potential solutions.

Preferred Attributes

  • 2-3 years of experience specifically in change management.
  • Certifications such as CCMP, ProSci, or equivalent in change management are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with scientific workflows including bioanalysis, compound management, or medicinal chemistry is desirable.
  • Experience within pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors preferred.
  • Knowledge of formal change management methodologies is a plus.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for client visits and internal meetings.
