Position Overview
This role is offered on behalf of a partner company seeking a Scientific Business Analyst based in the United States. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to enhancing laboratory operations within life sciences organizations by leveraging cutting-edge informatics solutions.
Combining expertise in science, business analysis, and technology consulting, you will translate client requirements into efficient digital workflows that improve research productivity and facilitate data-driven decisions. The position involves close collaboration with scientists, laboratory personnel, and technical stakeholders to craft impactful solutions.
The role demands a strong grasp of laboratory settings, including experience with LIMS, ELN, and scientific data management systems. You will also serve as a trusted advisor by guiding clients through implementation, configuration, training, and ongoing improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Interpret customer goals and translate scientific and operational necessities into clear, functional solutions.
- Document existing and prospective business operations, workflows, and requirements using structured techniques.
- Define success metrics aligned to client objectives and ensure solutions fulfill these measurable outcomes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laboratory informatics platforms such as LIMS, ELN, and scientific data management.
- Customize workflows, experiments, and system processes to align with customer demands and operational targets.
- Develop workflow prototypes, mockups, and documentation to clearly communicate proposed ideas.
- Provide training and guidance to end users to help them derive maximum benefit from the implemented technologies.
- Conduct root cause analyses to identify and resolve business challenges, ensuring effective solution delivery.
- Collaborate with product teams to relay customer feedback and contribute to product enhancement opportunities.
- Act as a reliable technical partner to assist customers in optimizing platform usage and service availability.
- Manage and maintain comprehensive implementation documentation and business analysis reports with precision.
- Support testing processes to validate feature functionality and ensure alignment with business needs.
- Operate independently while upholding high standards of quality, organization, and customer satisfaction.
- Work collaboratively with global teams to refine processes, improve delivery methods, and enhance customer interactions.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in life sciences settings, preferably within laboratories deploying new technology solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in life sciences disciplines such as molecular biology, chemistry, or related fields.
- Hands-on experience with LIMS, ELN, SDMS, or similar laboratory informatics systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of laboratory workflows, scientific methodologies, and digital transformation endeavors.
- Proven skill in managing external stakeholders and fostering effective collaborations between technical and business teams.
- Experience conducting client workshops, gathering detailed requirements, and documenting business outcomes.
- Strong analytical mindset with capabilities in problem-solving, interviewing, and data analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and documentation proficiency.
- Experience generating process documentation and translating complex technical information for varied audiences.
- Familiarity with software tools like JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and CRM systems.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or relevant experience is advantageous.
- Organized and capable of prioritizing tasks effectively to meet deadlines while ensuring accuracy.
- Self-motivated and capable of working productively in remote settings with accountability.
- Willing to travel approximately 30% of the time.
