Position Overview
GEMS Cambridge International School in Abu Dhabi invites applications for a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher specializing in Physics or Chemistry to join the team from August 2026. The role focuses on delivering engaging and effective science education to students in Key Stages 3 and 4 within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach assigned science curriculum faithfully, maintaining current and accurate knowledge of subject content.
- Create and sustain a safe, organized, and distraction-free learning environment that promotes excellent academic outcomes.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons tailored to the diverse abilities of students in the classroom.
- Adjust teaching methods based on student needs, ensuring individual and group learning goals are met.
- Implement the school's development strategies and abide by assessment and marking policies.
- Set high expectations for student performance, supporting learners to reach their full academic potential as demonstrated in their work.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, behaviour, and attainment using data analysis to refine teaching approaches.
- Provide both oral and written feedback and participate in student appraisals under national frameworks.
- Support student welfare by giving guidance on academic and social matters along with future education planning.
- Engage collaboratively with colleagues, leadership, and parents to enhance student development.
- Reflect on and improve instructional strategies in alignment with national curriculum standards.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, teaching resources development, assessment methods, and pastoral care planning with school leaders and staff.
- Maintain professional standards through peer review and ongoing professional development activities.
- Ensure discipline, health, and safety of students and promptly report safeguarding concerns.
- Participate in school meetings, assemblies, and parent engagement as required.
- Monitor student attendance diligently and follow up on absences.
- Collaborate closely with Learning Support Assistants to develop and implement Individual Educational Programmes for students with additional learning needs, monitor their progress, and communicate regularly with parents.
- Utilize audiovisual technology and creative teaching methods to enhance lessons.
- Assist with extracurricular activities and school events, such as competitions and prize ceremonies.
Candidate Profile & Skills
- Possession of a teaching degree or a bachelor's degree with a teaching qualification/license in a relevant subject area.
- Competency in integrating ICT tools into teaching practices effectively.
- Strong subject knowledge in Physics or Chemistry with a commitment to student learning success.
- Proven communication skills and ability to foster positive relationships within the school community.
- Minimum two years of teaching experience with the appropriate age group and subject.
