Job description

About the role

This is a standout opportunity to join a mission-driven beauty brand with in-house laboratories, chemists, and a UK manufacturing site. The position is focused on helping communicate the science behind high-performance, conscious beauty in a way that is clear, exciting, and trustworthy.

The company is making a major investment in proprietary ingredient technologies for skin, scalp, and hair. The successful candidate will help shape how that innovation is developed and explained, turning technical formulation work into education that resonates with consumers and supports the Ambassador community.

You should be a confident science communicator with a strong foundation in chemistry, cosmetic science, dermatology, pharmacy, or a closely related field. The role combines technical credibility with engaging communication, contributing to ingredient development from early concept through launch while making the science easy to understand for different audiences.

Science education and content

  • Develop engaging, science-based education for consumers, Ambassadors, and the wider community.
  • Represent the brand on camera through ingredient explainers, tutorials, live sessions, and behind-the-scenes content.
  • Turn detailed formulation information into product education that is simple, memorable, and accurate.
  • Strengthen trust by explaining claims, ingredient selection, and sustainability in a clear and accessible way.

Innovation and proprietary ingredient development

  • Partner closely with the R&D team and external research collaborators on new ingredient technologies.
  • Help build scientific stories around emerging actives and formulation advances.
  • Connect early scientific development with launch messaging that works for consumers.
  • Key focus areas include green chemistry, biotechnology, biofermentation, skin barrier science, scalp health, and hair performance.

Product and formulation storytelling

  • Work across R&D, marketing, and brand functions to explain the science behind formulas.
  • Break down key ingredients, active concentrations, delivery systems, and performance testing.
  • Create educational content around skin, scalp, and hair concerns such as hydration, barrier support, ageing, pigmentation, and hair strength.
  • Support launches with ingredient deep-dives, training assets, and customer-facing communication.

Green beauty science leadership

  • Advocate for the brand’s approach to high-performance, conscious formulation.
  • Show how green chemistry can challenge outdated ideas about natural beauty.
  • Stay current on developments in cosmetic science, dermatology, and sustainable formulation.

Candidate profile

The role may suit a cosmetic scientist, chemist, pharmacist, PhD researcher, dermatologist, trichologist, or another experienced scientific communicator working in beauty, skincare, haircare, or health.

Essential requirements

  • A formal qualification in chemistry, cosmetic science, dermatology, pharmacy, biochemistry, trichology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated skill in explaining complex science clearly to non-specialist audiences.
  • Comfort and confidence presenting on camera.
  • Genuine interest in green chemistry, sustainable formulation, and conscious beauty.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with R&D teams, chemists, product developers, and external laboratories.
  • Strong scientific judgement with the ability to stay accurate without overstating claims.
  • Energy and warmth to educate both consumers and a large Ambassador network.

Preferred experience

  • Advanced academic or professional recognition such as a PhD, medical qualification, or expert standing in skin, scalp, or hair science.
  • Practical experience in cosmetic science, dermatology, trichology, or personal care R&D.
  • Background in creating science-led social content, educational videos, webinars, or live training.
  • Exposure to proprietary ingredient development, clinical studies, or claims support.
  • Awareness of barrier science, microbiome, peptides, exosomes, bioactives, or skinification trends.

What the company offers

  • Employment can be part-time, full-time, or freelance, with room to tailor the setup to the right person.
  • The role is based at the company’s headquarters near Beddington Lane Tram stop, with links to East Croydon and Wimbledon.
  • Hybrid working can be discussed with the recruitment team.
  • Salary starts from £70,000 per year, depending on experience, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
  • Benefits include hybrid working, up to 33 days of holiday, enhanced family leave, private medical insurance, a Medicash plan, life insurance after a qualifying period, EAP support through the Wisdom app, a generous product allowance, 50% discount for family and friends, retailer discounts, Cycle to Work and Electric Car schemes, a free breakfast bar, a dog-friendly HQ with a chill zone and pool table, on-site parking, regular social events, and wellbeing treats throughout the year.
  • The intended start date is immediate.

About the company

The business began when its founder and CEO launched homemade body scrubs as a teenager at Greenwich Market to help support her family. A strong customer response helped turn that early idea into a fast-growing beauty company.

The original body scrub is still part of the range, alongside a broad collection of award-winning skincare and beauty products. The brand is certified vegan, cruelty-free, and CarbonNeutral®, and its purpose is to help create a healthier, greener, and more empowered world.

The company is looking for creative, ambitious people who are passionate about innovative, sustainable beauty and who want to help empower communities around the world.

Equal opportunities and accommodations

The organisation says its team is diverse and built on respect and belonging. It values candidates of all protected characteristics and does not discriminate.

Reasonable accommodations are available for applicants with disabilities at every stage of the hiring process. Candidates are encouraged to notify the recruitment team as early as possible if support is needed.

Hiring decisions are based on skills, experience, and qualifications, with a focus on fairness and a positive candidate experience.
