About the role
As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, you will help keep the school operating smoothly by looking after grounds, buildings, equipment and security arrangements to a consistently high standard.
This position combines grounds maintenance, general upkeep, facilities support and day-to-day operational assistance. The aim is to provide a safe, practical and well-maintained setting for students, staff and the wider school community.

Nambour State College is a lively and inclusive learning community focused on helping every student reach their potential. The college was established in 2016 through the merger of Nambour State High School and Nambour State School, uniting two of the Sunshine Coast’s longest-standing schools. It continues to build on this heritage while adopting fresh approaches to teaching and learning.
Key duties
- Carry out a variety of daily support tasks such as collecting and delivering mail, parcels and documents; passing on messages; printing and photocopying; setting up classrooms for exams; preparing halls and activity spaces for assemblies; moving and rearranging furniture and seating; relocating furniture between rooms; handling store duties including receiving, opening, checking, storing and issuing school supplies and stock; maintaining registers; and stocktaking, marking and recording school equipment, furniture and assets.
- Provide support with security-related tasks, including operating and maintaining school security systems, transporting and depositing school funds at the bank, and unlocking and securing buildings during core hours.
- Assist with grounds and cleanliness work such as clearing and hosing drains and gutters, collecting waste, food and paper from school grounds as directed, carrying out urgent cleaning tasks outside normal cleaning hours, arranging rubbish removal or disposal when needed, and helping prepare for major events such as fetes, performances and sporting events.
- Follow workplace health and safety requirements by maintaining a safe work environment, storing and handling chemicals, fertilisers and fuel correctly, raising any safety concerns promptly, maintaining equipment records, and looking after tools and equipment in line with manufacturer service instructions.
