Role Overview
The Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, plays a vital role in maintaining the school's environment and operational efficiency by providing excellent grounds and facilities support. Reporting to the Principal, Business Manager, or their delegate, this position involves performing routine and some non-routine maintenance and support tasks with guidance as necessary. The role excludes any work that requires certified tradespersons.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle daily operational tasks such as managing mail and parcel delivery and collection, printing, photocopying, preparing classrooms for exams, arranging furniture in activity halls, stocktaking and management of supplies and school assets.
- Carry out security-related functions including operating and maintaining security systems, safely transporting and depositing school funds, and securing school buildings during core hours.
- Perform general grounds maintenance like clearing drains, waste collection, immediate cleaning tasks beyond regular cleaning hours, rubbish disposal, and supporting events organization.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards, proper handling and storage of chemicals and fuels, hazard communication, and upkeep of tools and equipment.
- Coordinate repairs and upkeep relating to furniture, locks, windows, swimming pools (including water quality testing and chemical adjustments), and overall school facilities maintenance.
- Liaise with school leadership on routine maintenance planning and other facilities management matters.
