Job description
About the organisation
Waipapa Taumata Rau, the University of Auckland, is Aotearoa New Zealand’s top-ranked university. With a workforce of over 6,000 academic and professional staff supporting more than 46,000 students, it is among the country’s largest and most varied employers. The university is driven by curiosity, purpose, and a commitment to making a positive difference for its communities.
About the opportunity
This position offers the chance to guide and motivate future students as they explore their study options. You will help secondary school students and their whānau understand university pathways, giving them the guidance and information they need to make informed choices.
As the Schools and Community Recruitment Adviser, you will partner with designated faculties to coordinate outreach, engagement, and recruitment activity across schools and communities. You will act as the central connection between faculties and the Schools and Community Engagement team, helping ensure a joined-up and high-quality recruitment experience.
Key duties
- Present at schools and community events, and lead outreach activities that attract and support prospective school-leaver students.
- Work with designated faculties to organise discipline-specific recruitment and engagement initiatives.
- Contribute programme knowledge to help create strong digital and face-to-face engagement materials.
- Develop trusted relationships with careers advisers, teachers, school leaders, students, whānau, and community organisations.
- Track school-leaver applications, offers, and enrolments within your faculty portfolio and help support recruitment goals.
- Spot opportunities to improve the school-leaver experience and strengthen engagement efforts.
