Job description
About the school
Pine Rivers State High School aims to develop informed citizens who contribute to strong and respectful communities. Its guiding phrase, by different ways to excellence, reflects a commitment to the values of Perseverance, Integrity, Nurturing and Excellence, with the belief that every student can succeed in their own way.
Role overview
The school is looking for an energetic and committed School Technical Officer to support the IT Department. This is a temporary full-time role running until 18 September 2026, unless otherwise decided. The vacancy is being advertised for expressions of interest, and any extension to the appointment will not be longer than 12 months.
In this position, you will work both as part of a team and on your own to help keep the school’s technical services running smoothly. The role calls for someone who can interact confidently and professionally with staff and students across all levels, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining strong relationships and clear communication with colleagues.
This opportunity allows you to contribute to the school’s daily operations and support its broader goals by helping create an effective learning environment for students and staff.
Key responsibilities
- Offer guidance and practical support to improve how the school uses ICT systems, covering acquisition, installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement.
- Assist the school community with technical advice, instruction, and help using electronic equipment, while following departmental, school, and manufacturer policies, guidelines, and network standards.
- Help deliver in-service training for staff so they can use ICT tools effectively to support student learning and service delivery.
- Provide timely and efficient assistance to staff and students when issues arise with school computing facilities, with a strong focus on customer service and communication.
- Carry out routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance and repairs for ICT facilities and related electronic equipment.
- Keep technical service records and other accountable documentation connected to the school’s ICT infrastructure and support activities.
- Liaise with regional and central support teams on technical issues and provide advice when needed.
Application requirements
- Submit a short resume that includes the contact details of two referees who understand your relevant work history.
- Provide a two-page written response addressing the attached role description.
- Include evidence that you meet the mandatory requirements listed in the role description.
Additional information
This is a progressional role, so the salary range may cover two classifications. The final appointment level will depend on the candidate’s skills and whether they meet the required criteria.
The Department welcomes requests for support to help make the recruitment process inclusive.
Applications will remain active for 12 months after the closing date and may be considered for similar or identical vacancies within the Department during that time.
Applications submitted by recruitment agencies will not be accepted.
