School Nurse for 2026-2027 School Year

Position Overview

The Community Charter School of Paterson is inviting applications for a full-time School Nurse to serve during the 2026-2027 academic year. The role is dedicated to ensuring student and staff health while fostering a safe and healthy school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the consulting school physician, staff members, parents, and community health experts to promote a healthy environment and reduce absenteeism caused by illness.
• Implement health services and conduct screening programs in compliance with legal requirements and Board policies.
• Organize and oversee health evaluations of students and staff, facilitating referrals and follow-ups as needed.
• Provide emergency medical care for sudden illnesses and administer first aid for injuries per established protocols; manage necessary medical supplies and equipment.
• Keep comprehensive and confidential health records including immunization documentation for all students.
• Execute preventive measures against communicable diseases through education, inspections, exclusion policies, and readmission protocols aligned with health regulations and school rules.
• Alert the CEO or designated officials when any student shows signs of alcohol or drug influence, to arrange prompt medical evaluation.
• Advise students, parents, and staff on health and safety matters; contribute to the school’s emergency and crisis management planning.
• Support identification and placement of students requiring special education services by collaborating with the Director of Student Support Services, CEO, and child study team.
• Assist in developing and delivering the health education curriculum, serving as a resource on health and safety topics to teachers, and helping with instruction when necessary.
• Promote and maintain sanitary and safe school premises alongside administration and faculty.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.
• Certification as a School Nurse.
• Valid Registered Nurse certification.
