School Custodial Cleaner

Role Overview

ABM Industries is seeking a dependable School Custodial Cleaner to handle routine cleaning and upkeep in designated spaces within a K-12 school, college, or university setting. This role is suited to someone who is detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working in an educational facility environment.

Key Duties

• Keep assigned locations clean and orderly, including classrooms, corridors, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairwells.
• Sweep floors, clear away debris, handle spills, and mop surfaces in the areas assigned.
• Inspect waste bins regularly and empty them when needed across all designated spaces.
• Use cleaning chemicals and powered equipment according to procedure to avoid harming floors or fixtures.
• Inform the lead cleaner or manager about needed minor or major repairs or about any additions required for building systems.
• Build and maintain productive communication and working relationships with clients, teammates, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
• Gather, sort, and place recycling materials into the correct containers.
• Dust and clean desks, chairs, tables, fixtures, doors, window sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Buff and polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel.
• Wipe down tables, chairs, and equipment in food service areas.
• Relocate cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment when necessary, using manual methods or hand trucks.
• Clean interior glass, including windows, partitions, and mirrors, using suitable cleaning solutions and tools.
• Perform outdoor and seasonal tasks such as sweeping walkways, raking leaves, cutting grass, and removing snow.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness and polish fixtures as needed.
• Follow all safety, security, quality, and compliance requirements set by the company, clients, and relevant authorities.

Experience and Fit

This position is open to people who are just starting out in the workforce as well as those returning after time away and who may have limited experience or education. It is also a strong fit for veterans and candidates with military backgrounds. Military Occupational Specialty Codes mentioned for this role include 92S, 92Y, LS, 3051, and 3F1X1.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
• No prior experience is necessary, as on-the-job training will be provided.
• No high school diploma, GED, or college degree is required.
• Previous customer service experience is preferred.
• One year of similar work experience is also preferred.
