About the Role
We are seeking an experienced SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) Consultant to join the SAP Center of Excellence for a leading steel manufacturer located in Al Khobar, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. This role involves managing complex warehouse, yard, and inventory operations in a challenging heavy-industry logistics environment, including handling raw materials, scrap yards, billet and coil storage, as well as finished goods dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
- Streamline and stabilize inbound, outbound, internal movements, staging, and yard operations.
- Enhance handling unit (HU) management for coil tagging, steel bundles, slabs, and heavy materials.
- Optimize radio frequency (RF) processes, put-away and picking strategies, and automate warehouse tasks.
- Address and resolve stock discrepancies between EWM and S/4HANA and improve physical inventory workflows.
- Support integration efforts with production staging/backflush (PP) and shipping processes (SD).
Administrative Duties
- Maintain detailed functional, technical, configuration, testing, and support documentation.
- Adhere to IT governance policies, including cybersecurity, audit, change management, transport controls, and segregation of duties.
- Assist with various testing phases including unit, integration, regression, user acceptance testing (UAT), cutover planning, deployment, and post-implementation stabilization.
- Manage incidents, service requests, problems, changes, and track service level agreements using ServiceNow/ITSM tools.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive audit evidence packs, release approvals, and secure business sign-offs.
Collaboration and Consultation
- Partner closely with business process owners, key users, IT teams, SAP Basis and Security teams, and integration stakeholders.
- Convert business requirements into SAP solution designs, outline risks, and suggest best implementation strategies.
- Provide expert consultation, knowledge sharing, and mentorship to end-users and junior consultants.
- Serve as a trusted advisor in prioritization, root cause analysis (RCA), system stabilization, and ongoing improvements.
- Collaborate across multiple SAP modules to troubleshoot and resolve process challenges.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Certification as SAP Application Associate in Extended Warehouse Management; advanced or embedded warehousing certifications are advantageous.
- Extensive practical experience with EWM 9.x and embedded EWM, including warehouse automation, RF device management, HU and yard operations for heavy industry sectors.
- Minimum of 5 years specialized SAP EWM experience and over 10 years in warehouse or logistics roles, with thorough knowledge of integration with PP, MM, SD, QM, and FI/CO modules.
- A proactive ownership mindset balancing immediate support needs with long-term process standardization; ITIL Foundation certification is beneficial.
Location and Work Details
This position is based onsite in Saudi Arabia at Al Khobar in the Eastern Province. The role follows contract employment terms and is focused on managing the organization's complex supply chain systems in the steel manufacturing sector.
