SAP BTP Architect - Retail

Role Overview

This contract role is for an SAP BTP Architect focused on retail. The position calls for strong SAP Business Technology Platform expertise along with a solid grasp of retail operations such as merchandising, pricing, inventory, e-commerce, point-of-sale, fulfilment, and omnichannel commerce.

The architect will design, guide, and deliver scalable cloud solutions on SAP BTP to support retail transformation programs. This role acts as a link between business stakeholders and technical teams, helping ensure smooth integration across SAP S/4HANA Retail, e-commerce tools, POS environments, supply chain systems, and external partner applications.

Architecture and Solution Design

You will be responsible for creating end-to-end BTP architecture that aligns with wider enterprise goals and retail strategy. The role includes designing extensions, integrations, analytics, and automation capabilities using SAP BTP services, as well as defining reusable reference architectures, standards, and governance practices. Solutions must follow SAP Clean Core principles and accepted cloud best practices.

Retail Transformation Scope

The work covers key retail processes, including merchandising, pricing and promotions, inventory management, order handling, omnichannel fulfilment, store operations, customer experience, and loyalty. You will design solutions that can support high transaction loads and real-time retail execution.

Integration Architecture

The architect will lead integration design across SAP S/4HANA Retail, SAP CAR, e-commerce platforms, POS systems, warehouse and logistics applications, CRM and marketing tools, and third-party systems. The role also requires use of SAP Integration Suite, APIs, OData services, Event Mesh, CPI, and middleware technologies.

Cloud and Platform Governance

You will manage BTP subaccounts, environments, security controls, and platform standards. Responsibilities also include defining deployment, monitoring, disaster recovery, and performance approaches, while making sure the solution meets security, privacy, and regulatory expectations.

Stakeholder Management

Close collaboration is expected with business leaders, product owners, solution architects, and implementation partners. You will convert business needs into technical roadmaps and solution designs, and provide technical direction during implementation and transformation initiatives.

Required Experience

The role requires 8 to 15+ years of SAP experience, including 3 to 5+ years specifically in SAP BTP architecture. Candidates should have worked on multiple SAP S/4HANA implementation or transformation projects and should bring experience in retail, consumer products, or omnichannel commerce settings. Strong enterprise architecture leadership and stakeholder management experience are also important.

Additional Requirements

Applicants should bring expertise across SAP technologies such as SAP BTP, SAP Integration Suite (CPI), SAP CAP, SAP Build, SAP Event Mesh, SAP Workflow Management, SAP Fiori/UI5, SAP S/4HANA Retail, and SAP Cloud ALM. Technical knowledge should also cover API management, REST, SOAP, OData, event-driven design, microservices, cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP, DevOps and CI/CD, security architecture, identity management, and data integration and analytics architecture.

Retail domain understanding should include merchandise management, pricing and promotions, inventory optimisation, omnichannel commerce, store operations, order-to-cash processes, and supply chain and fulfilment.

Location and Work Mode

This position is based onsite in Cork, County Cork, Ireland.
