Job description
About the role
This position is for a physically capable and safety-focused Salt Miner / Rock Salt Miner to support extraction, processing, and material handling at a salt mining site in Dubai. The work involves drilling, blasting, cutting, and loading rock salt deposits as part of an underground or surface team. The role is hands-on and physically demanding, with close coordination alongside shift supervisors, equipment operators, maintenance crews, and site management to help maintain safe and efficient production.
Key responsibilities
- Perform rock salt extraction tasks such as drilling, blasting, mechanical cutting, and manual breaking based on supervisor instructions.
- Use mining equipment and vehicles, including continuous miners, loaders, conveyors, and haul vehicles, while following site procedures and safety rules.
- Move extracted salt to conveyors, hoppers, or transport vehicles for onward transfer to processing or storage areas.
- Check work areas, equipment, and ground conditions at the start of each shift and immediately report hazards, defects, or unsafe situations.
- Support the installation and upkeep of ground support, ventilation, and drainage systems when needed.
- Follow all occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements relevant to mining operations.
- Take part in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident reporting steps.
- Help maintenance teams with basic servicing, cleaning, and pre-shift inspections of assigned machinery.
- Assist with stockpiling, grading, and quality sorting of mined rock salt as directed.
- Keep the work area clean, orderly, and free from hazards during the shift and at the end of the day.
Candidate profile
The preferred candidate should bring prior exposure to underground or surface mining, quarrying, tunneling, or another heavy industrial setting. Experience with drilling, blasting, or mechanical cutting in salt, potash, limestone, or similar evaporite/sedimentary mining environments is considered an advantage. A valid mining or blasting certification is preferred, or the candidate should be willing to obtain it after joining, in line with local rules. Ability to operate mining equipment and a valid heavy vehicle or equipment operator license are also preferred.
Applicants should have a solid understanding of mining safety practices, including PPE use, emergency procedures, and hazard spotting. The role requires good physical fitness and the ability to work in confined underground spaces, outdoors, and in changing conditions. Reliability, punctuality, and willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, are important. Candidates must be able to follow spoken and written instructions accurately and have basic reading, writing, and numeracy skills. A cooperative, team-oriented mindset is essential. Experience with remote or site-based accommodation is an added advantage.
What’s on offer
- Opportunity to work at an established, actively operating salt mining site with a strong safety culture and experienced team.
- Supportive working environment with clear operating procedures and experienced supervisors.
- Competitive daily or shift-based pay, with site allowances and overtime where applicable.
- All required PPE, tools, and site facilities provided.
- On-the-job training plus support for gaining relevant certifications and equipment licenses.
- Scope for growth into senior operator, supervisory, or specialist positions based on performance and experience.
Application process
Applicants are asked to send a CV or work history summary of up to 2 pages, a one-page cover letter explaining relevant experience and suitability, copies of applicable certifications/licenses/safety training records, and two references with names, roles, and contact details. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to interview and could also be asked to complete a site induction assessment or practical skills check before starting.
