Role Summary

The Sales Specialist – Equipment & Consumables will be responsible for managing and expanding the sales territory across the South Island from Christchurch. This customer-facing position emphasizes building strong client relationships, implementing strategic territory plans, and driving profitable sales growth within the Scientific Solutions team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed sales and gross margin objectives within the designated territory.
  • Proactively manage customer accounts and document activities using Salesforce.
  • Create and implement tailored business and customer strategies.
  • Conduct at least 10 customer visits weekly and hold regular business reviews.
  • Identify new business prospects, advance sales pipelines, and close deals efficiently.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and handle issues with professionalism.
  • Continuously monitor market conditions, competitive landscape, and customer trends to inform tactical decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers and technical experts to enhance business development.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ sales experience within New Zealand’s scientific market.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory equipment and consumables.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and client relationship management abilities.
  • Proven track record in achieving sales growth and negotiating business terms.
  • Competence in planning, organizing, and managing sales territories effectively.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Possession of a tertiary qualification in Business, Science, or related discipline.
