Job description
About Scelion
Scelion is building software that helps companies work with public procurement in a far more efficient way. Rather than manually hunting for tenders, checking eligibility criteria, and handling paperwork, businesses can connect their data once and let the platform automate the rest. The company’s goal is to make public procurement quicker, simpler, and genuinely practical for businesses.
Scelion is an early-stage, VC-backed startup with additional backing from experienced angel investors. The role offers direct exposure to the founders and the chance to influence the go-to-market strategy from the start.
Role overview
This is a full-time, office-based sales position in central Munich, near Odeonsplatz. The ideal candidate already has experience in B2B sales or a related commercial role and has a strong history of hitting or exceeding sales goals. This is a hands-on position for someone who can build a pipeline, run meaningful customer conversations, and move prospects through the buying journey with urgency and focus.
The role is centered on closing business, creating momentum in deals, and turning outreach into qualified opportunities. You will work closely with the founders and contribute to sales execution, growth efforts, and the development of the company’s commercial process.
Key responsibilities
- Spot and evaluate potential customers that fit the product and market.
- Approach decision-makers through email, LinkedIn, phone, and in-person outreach.
- Lead discovery conversations and learn how customers manage procurement today.
- Communicate Scelion’s value proposition in a clear, compelling way.
- Manage prospects across the full sales cycle, from initial contact to closing.
- Test new outbound approaches and refine what works best.
- Share structured feedback from the market to support product and positioning decisions.
- Help develop the sales process, CRM structure, and go-to-market playbook.
Candidate profile
This opportunity is suited to someone who enjoys ownership, works well with founders, and wants to help build the commercial function of an early-stage B2B SaaS company.
Must-have requirements
- Native-level German communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Prior professional experience in B2B sales, business development, account management, or a similar customer-facing commercial role.
- A demonstrated record of achieving or surpassing sales targets, quotas, or revenue objectives.
- A strong closing-oriented mindset with consistent focus on advancing deals and producing measurable outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships.
- Comfort with structured sales conversations with business clients.
- Confidence in outbound selling and proactive customer contact.
- The ability to identify customer pain points and convert them into clear business value.
- A high level of ownership and the ability to work independently.
- Interest in startups, SaaS, public procurement, or digital transformation.
- Willingness to work on-site from the Munich office at Odeonsplatz.
Good-to-have experience
- Background in selling SaaS, software, or other digital products.
- Experience selling to SMEs, enterprise accounts, or industries connected to the public sector.
- Knowledge of public procurement, tenders, or B2B service sales.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and structured pipeline management.
- Exposure to outbound tools, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or email-based outreach.
- English fluency.
What Scelion offers
- A competitive full-time salary.
- Performance-linked upside based on experience and outcomes.
- Equity participation.
- Direct day-to-day collaboration with the founders.
- Strong ownership over sales and go-to-market work from the beginning.
- The chance to shape the sales motion of a VC-backed early-stage startup.
- A steep learning environment across sales, growth, product, and strategy.
- A central Munich office location at Odeonsplatz.
Who this role suits
- Professionals who already have experience in B2B sales, business development, or account management.
- People who have consistently met or exceeded revenue targets.
- Candidates who are naturally focused on closing and progressing deals.
- Those who enjoy speaking with customers and understanding business challenges.
- Individuals who are comfortable with outbound sales and building relationships from scratch.
- People who want ownership rather than a rigid corporate sales structure.
- Anyone excited by early-stage startups and motivated by building something meaningful.
- Self-directed people who move quickly and learn from direct market feedback.
Additional information
Public procurement is a large market, but many companies still deal with it in a slow, manual, and hard-to-access way. Scelion is building the infrastructure that helps businesses discover, understand, and respond to relevant public tenders more efficiently.
As one of the first sales hires, you will not only sell an existing product. You will help define how the company sells, who it sells to, and how it grows.
