Job description
Job Summary
This role focuses on growing room revenue and improving market share in the leisure travel segment. The position involves managing partnerships with wholesale tour operators, online travel agencies, retail travel agents, consortia such as Virtuoso and Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts, and tourism boards. The successful candidate will design and execute sales strategies that raise occupancy and revenue, especially during quieter periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and expand relationships with existing leisure accounts while actively sourcing new business opportunities across regional and global markets.
- Lead annual negotiations and contracting for wholesale and FIT (Free Independent Traveler) business, making sure pricing stays competitive and supports the hotel’s revenue strategy.
- Study competitor activity, market movements, and leisure travel demand to uncover new segments and refine sales approaches.
- Represent the hotel at key travel trade events and expos, including major international and domestic shows such as ITB, WTM, and ILTM, and carry out focused sales missions.
- Partner with Revenue Management and Marketing teams to develop attractive leisure packages, promotions, and tactical campaigns.
- Plan and host site inspections and familiarization trips for travel agents, wholesalers, and media representatives to highlight the property’s key strengths.
- Monitor the production of all leisure accounts, evaluate the return on marketing initiatives, and share regular forecast updates with the Director of Sales & Marketing.
Requirements
- Prior experience in the Qatar market is mandatory.
- 3 to 5 years of hotel sales experience, with a strong background in the leisure segment.
- A well-developed and active network of luxury travel advisors, consortia partners, and international tour operators.
- Hands-on knowledge of PMS platforms such as Opera, as well as CRS and CRM systems including Salesforce and Delphi.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages is an advantage, depending on the target market.
- Willingness to travel frequently for client visits, trade shows, and industry events.
