Job description
Role Overview
As a Commis in the kitchen team in Singapore, you will support daily food preparation, mise en place, and plating work as part of the culinary brigade.
Key Duties
- Prepare the assigned workstation with the necessary ingredients and kitchen equipment before service begins.
- Cook and assemble food items in a prompt, hygienic, and orderly manner.
- Work according to the recipes and presentation standards set by the Executive Chef.
- Replenish ingredients and other items throughout the shift whenever required.
- Keep the station clean and well maintained to support food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety.
- Request daily perishable and dry supplies for the workstation when needed.
- Use station equipment correctly and take responsibility for its cleanliness and upkeep.
- Help with inspecting, accepting, and storing deliveries, and support upkeep of storage areas.
- Consistently maintain health, sanitation, and safety standards in the work area.
- Attend briefings and take part in training sessions.
- Comply with food and beverage hygiene and safety policies and procedures.
- Take on additional tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Friendly, confident, professional, and positive manner with strong interpersonal skills.
- At least 2 years of experience in a comparable role in a restaurant or café setting.
- Willingness and ability to learn and move between different line positions within the outlet.
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of HACCP standards.
- Understanding of health and safety rules and procedures.
