Role Overview
This position is for an Account Executive focused on selling SailPoint’s identity security solutions. Success in the role depends on strong communication skills, the ability to run discovery conversations, and a solid understanding of how SailPoint compares with competing platforms such as Microsoft, Okta, and Saviynt. The role is highly collaborative and requires coordination across partner resources, presales, deal desk, professional services, customer success, and leadership.
What You Will Do
- Drive quarterly and annual revenue achievement and work consistently toward quota attainment.
- Handle customer and partner questions with clear, accurate, and tailored responses.
- Build business plans aligned to your assigned territory and sales priorities.
- Maintain strong customer relationships while delivering service that reflects SailPoint’s values.
- Work with marketing to create and execute campaigns with partners and end users.
- Follow up on all assigned leads and keep internal records current.
- Coordinate the right technical resources to show the customer SailPoint’s strengths.
- Partner with post-sale teams to maintain account coverage and uncover new opportunities.
- Own the full sales cycle, from qualification and presentations to demos, RFPs, negotiations, and closure.
- Build a strong understanding of the territory, including buyers, partners, influencers, prospects, and competitors.
- Track competitive and complementary market strategies and communicate them effectively.
- Lead conversations across business and technical stakeholders at different levels of the customer organization.
- Use reporting, forecasting, channel tools, and Salesforce accurately and consistently.
Success Milestones
First month: Define account opportunities, prioritize the top 20 accounts and top 3 major opportunities, meet with former account owners, connect with existing partners, and align with marketing and channel managers on plans.
Second month: Map key stakeholders in priority accounts, demonstrate strong Salesforce discipline, and meet weekly with sales management to keep Clari and Salesforce updated.
Third month: Present a full territory plan covering account potential, prioritized accounts, pipeline gap analysis, engagement plans, customer references, growth strategy, and operating cadence with the virtual team. Complete the “1st Mate” enablement badge.
Fourth month: Build account and opportunity plans, share forecasts for self-generated opportunities, present strategies for top accounts, complete relationship mapping in Salesforce, and show movement through sales stages on inherited or inbound deals.
Sixth month: Create a pipeline worth 2 to 3 times target, refine go-to-market messaging for the segment, and complete the Captains badge on HighSpot.
