Role Overview

The Sales Advisor will be responsible for driving sales across Personal Lines, Agri, and Commercial products. The position also supports the smooth day-to-day operation of the Sales Office, helping provide efficient customer care and achieve sales targets while strengthening the local FBD brand.

Key Duties

  • Take an active approach to meeting personal sales goals through prospecting, upselling, and cross-selling across Personal Lines, Commercial, and Agri business.
  • Handle customer questions and route complex or technical issues to the appropriate team member.
  • Follow company systems, processes, and procedures at all times.
  • Keep product knowledge, compliance information, and relevant professional qualifications current, including CPD hours where needed.
  • Work flexibly within the Sales Office and support a range of office tasks, which may include visiting the mart.
  • Provide cover for other Sales Offices in the region when required.
  • Build productive working relationships with the local FBD Life and Pension Financial Advisor to improve service delivery across the FBD Group.
  • Contribute to account management activity for Commercial and Agri clients.
  • Support renewal follow-ups and reviews, and identify opportunities for improved cover or rates where suitable.
  • Help customers at the first stage of a claim, following company procedures.
  • Manage responsibility for outstanding debit and premium collections.
  • Support the Sales Executive or Branch Manager as needed.
  • Carry out administration for Personal Lines, Commercial, and Agri business as required.
  • Complete any other duties assigned by management from time to time.

Education and Qualifications

A Leaving Certificate or equivalent, or a relevant third-level qualification, is required.

Holding APA, APP, CIP, or Grandfathered Accreditation is preferred. However, support will be provided to help the successful candidate achieve the required qualification within the Central Bank of Ireland timeframes.

Experience and Skills

Applicants should be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Previous experience in insurance or financial services would be an advantage, as would a background in sales or customer service.

Regulatory Information

This position is a controlled function under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime. The successful candidate is expected to understand and comply with the relevant standards at all times. The role has been assigned CF3 and CF4 designations.

Contract and Pay Band

This is a permanent role and falls within Pay Band A of FBD’s Sales Functions pay structure.
