Team Overview

The Explosive Ordnance Services team supports the Australian Defence Force through storage, distribution, maintenance and disposal of explosive ordnance systems across Australia. Role Summary

This position is for a proactive Safety, Security & Systems Coordinator who will strengthen the safety culture and ensure HSE systems are effective across EO Services operations. The role is central to keeping the depot environment safe, compliant and operating at a high standard.

The role is based at HMAS Stirling on Meandup land.

Key Duties

• Set up and sustain HSE systems that meet Major Hazard Facility obligations.
• Make sure operations align with all applicable safety laws, standards and internal policies.
• Carry out risk reviews, inspections and audits, then apply practical controls where needed.
• Manage incident investigations, determine root causes and follow through on corrective actions.
• Coordinate return-to-work and rehabilitation activities.
• Facilitate toolbox talks, safety updates and HSE learning sessions.
• Keep safety files, audit evidence and other records accurate and up to date.
• Assist with contractor safety oversight, including permits, documentation and audit checks.
• Track environmental compliance against site management plans.

Candidate Profile

• You hold a tertiary qualification in Health, Safety and Environment.
• You have solid experience coordinating HSE in a regulated or high-risk setting.
• You can demonstrate capability in risk assessment, incident investigation and compliance work.
• You communicate clearly and can influence and engage a range of stakeholders.
• You have delivered training sessions and safety briefings before.

Eligibility and Selection Requirements

Applicants must be Australian citizens and able to obtain and maintain the required Defence security clearance. Pre-employment police checks will be required, and medical checks may also apply depending on the role.
