Role Overview
We seek a full-time Safety Officer to be stationed on-site in Karaikal. The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising and enforcing health, safety, and security protocols across operational units. Daily tasks include conducting regular inspections, identifying hazards, undertaking risk assessments, and delivering safety training sessions. The officer will foster safe work habits, ensure strict adherence to relevant laws, company policies, and industry standards, and investigate incidents and near misses. Preparing detailed incident reports and assisting with corrective and preventive strategies will form a key part of the role. Collaboration with operations, maintenance, and management teams to advance safety initiatives, manage documentation, and support emergency preparedness and response activities will also be expected.
Qualifications and Skills
- Expertise in Health & Safety and Occupational Health principles, encompassing safety regulations, risk analysis, and safe practice procedures.
- Ability in Accident Investigation including incident evaluation, root cause analysis, and suggesting remedial measures.
- Competence in developing and conducting safety training to raise personnel awareness and compliance.
- Knowledge of security protocols with experience coordinating security efforts to safeguard personnel and assets.
- Possession of academic credentials such as a degree or diploma in Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, Occupational Health & Safety, or related fields; professional certifications like NEBOSH or IOSH are advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in an industrial or oil & gas environment.
- Proficiency with standard office software for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Willingness to participate in shift duties or emergency response as required.
