Job description
Role Overview
Al Shuwayer Group of Companies is seeking a Safety Officer for its Dammam location in Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on building and maintaining a strong workplace safety culture, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting operational teams with practical risk controls.
Key Duties
- Create and put into action workplace health and safety plans that align with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Support the Safety Manager by flagging compliance gaps and recommending preventive measures.
- Prepare reports, update policies, and contribute to safety documentation as needed.
- Track and summarize safety awareness levels, incident-related issues, and relevant statistics.
- Carry out inspections and safety audits, document observations, recommend corrective or preventive actions, and verify closure of findings.
- Check that employees and operations follow company policies and applicable laws.
- Organize and deliver safety training for workers at the site.
- Spot hazards in facilities, equipment, machinery, and tools, then drive corrective action.
- Review drawings, plans, and specifications for new equipment to confirm safety requirements are met.
Competencies and Professional Strengths
The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of safety regulations and standards, strong risk evaluation capabilities, and the ability to train others effectively. Attention to detail, structured problem-solving, critical thinking, emergency response planning, hazard control, incident investigation, and report preparation are all important for success in this role.
Experience Requirement
A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the oil and gas sector is required.
Education and Certifications
Candidates should hold a Diploma in Health and Safety, another relevant technical diploma, or an equivalent qualification. Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, and Kawader are required.
