Key responsibilities

- Provide on-site safety coverage for all high-risk activities.
- Prepare and project the annual unit safety workplan and run unit safety conferences.
- Review the unit safety policy and standing orders on a regular basis so they remain current and relevant.
- Drive the monthly unit safety workshops and stay fully familiar with the latest safety rules, regulations, and standards.
Challenges in the role
- Building strong knowledge of the Army’s safety system, culture, policies, and directives that apply to local and overseas training.
- Balancing the training requirements of five companies within the battalion while ensuring all activities follow safe operating practices.
- Introducing measures and controls that help prevent CAT 1 incidents.
- Using sound judgment to improve safety processes continuously and reduce incidents without lowering training standards.
- Explaining safety policies and implementation steps clearly to different stakeholders.

- Hands-on experience supporting safety audits and internal audits.
- Ability to conduct safety training sessions such as induction programmes, case studies, and hazard reporting.

- Analytical ability to review incident patterns and put preventive measures in place.
- High integrity, alertness, and professional discipline.
- Good organisational skills to manage safety workplans and maintain safety records and documents.
