Job description
Role Overview
The Safety Officer will be responsible for site-level safety oversight for domestic and overseas projects, while supporting the Project Manager in broader safety production management. This position is based in King Abdullah Economic City, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead safety supervision at project sites and support overall safety production control alongside the Project Manager.
- Apply client and workplace EHS standards, review safety execution plans, assess job hazards and preventive measures, conduct inspections, guide teams on-site, track corrective actions, and take part in client audits and review meetings.
- Manage vendor-related safety matters, including the safety oversight of contractor personnel and equipment.
- Support environmental compliance activities such as environmental “Three Simultaneities” (design, construction, and operation), workplace environmental monitoring, review of environmental aspects, improvement actions, and handling of wastewater, waste gas, solid waste, and other environmental outputs.
- Assist with occupational health compliance, including occupational health “Three Simultaneities,” monitoring exposure to occupational hazards, and communicating hazard notifications.
- Contribute to EHS compliance and safety systems by identifying applicable laws and regulations, supporting safety “Three Simultaneities,” maintaining workplace safety standardization, delivering safety training, identifying hazards, carrying out inspections, managing special work permits, preparing emergency response plans, organizing drills, and handling incident reporting and follow-up.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, ideally in safety, environmental management, or a related discipline; an engineering background is required.
- At least 3 years of construction safety management experience in projects, engineering, or similar sectors; 3–5+ years is preferred.
- Saudi nationality is required.
- Strong English communication skills are essential, including fluent speaking, writing, drafting, and document translation.
- Good communication and coordination abilities, strong organizational skills, teamwork mindset, and the ability to work with discipline and principles.
- Must be willing to accept work assignments at the stated location in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia.
- Relevant safety certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH, or an equivalent credential are required.
- Candidate should be able to join immediately.
