About the Role
ELMI Construction is hiring an experienced Safety & Health Officer to strengthen workplace safety across its construction projects. This position focuses on building a strong safety mindset, reducing risk, and making sure all site activities align with occupational health and safety rules as well as internal company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, roll out, and oversee safety policies and procedures across construction sites.
- Carry out routine site inspections and risk checks to spot potential hazards early.
- Review accidents and incidents, document findings, and propose corrective measures.
- Train workers and staff on safety practices and the correct use of tools and equipment.
- Make sure local safety laws, industry standards, and company rules are followed at all times.
- Lead safety briefings, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions to reinforce safe practices.
- Keep detailed and accurate safety records, reports, and documentation.
- Work closely with management and project teams to embed safety into every stage of construction.
- Encourage proper use of protective gear, equipment, and site safety measures to maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or a related discipline and have at least 2 years of relevant experience in a Safety & Health Officer role or a similar position. Strong knowledge of safety legislation, standards, and regulations is essential, along with a solid understanding of construction workflows and associated hazards. The role also requires excellent communication and training ability, plus the capability to carry out inspections and safety audits effectively.
Preferred Strengths
Applicants who bring strong organizational and leadership skills, a proactive approach to solving problems, comfort working under pressure, and the ability to handle emergencies will be especially well suited. Familiarity with safety management software and reporting tools is an added advantage.
