About the Role
Binance is a major global blockchain ecosystem and operates the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume and registered users. The company serves more than 300 million people across over 100 countries, with a focus on security, transparency of user funds, fast trading infrastructure, strong liquidity, and a broad set of digital-asset products. Its ecosystem spans trading, finance, education, research, payments, institutional services, Web3 capabilities, and more, all aimed at expanding access to financial services and advancing the freedom of money.
Binance is hiring a Compliance Rule Tuning Specialist for its Transaction Monitoring team. The position is focused on improving and fine-tuning compliance rules used to identify suspicious activity, with an emphasis on accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with regulatory expectations. The right candidate will bring strong SQL expertise, practical AML/compliance knowledge, and hands-on experience creating and improving transaction monitoring rules. They must also be able to communicate confidently and constructively with senior stakeholders, including MLROs, to ensure monitoring rules are workable in practice and effective operationally.
What You’ll Do
- Create, improve, and optimize SQL-driven transaction monitoring rules that flag suspicious or elevated-risk activity.
- Build supporting data tables and rule components that make the monitoring framework scalable, clear, and reliable.
- Review alerts generated by monitoring rules to adjust thresholds, cut down false positives, and improve detection quality.
- Work closely with MLROs, compliance teams, and risk stakeholders to convert business and regulatory needs into practical monitoring logic.
- Offer clear, tactful pushback and influence senior stakeholders when suggested rules or ideas are not realistic or would weaken effectiveness.
- Write and maintain documentation covering rule logic, data inputs, and tuning approaches so the work is audit-ready and easy for the team to understand.
- Keep monitoring rule performance under review and update rule sets as risks evolve or regulations change.
- Handle ad hoc compliance analysis and reporting through advanced SQL queries.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience, in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a similar field.
- Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to build complex queries and work with data structures.
- Good working knowledge of AML rules, transaction monitoring principles, and compliance requirements in crypto or financial services.
- Practical experience building and tuning rule-based transaction monitoring systems with a focus on precision and operational efficiency.
- The confidence and diplomacy to challenge and persuade senior compliance stakeholders, including MLROs, when needed.
- Strong attention to detail, along with solid analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Background in fintech, crypto compliance, or financial services compliance would be a strong plus.
Why Join Binance

- Grow in a performance-focused environment with room for career advancement and ongoing learning.
- Receive a competitive salary and company benefits.
- Enjoy a work-from-home arrangement, depending on the needs of the business team and the nature of the work.
