Job description

Role overview

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an energetic and committed Physiotherapist to join its junior rotational programme, working across both inpatient and outpatient services at the Wexham and Heatherwood sites.

The rotation runs in 4-month blocks and includes experience in medicine, surgery/ITU, orthopaedics, MSK OP (hydro/gym/main department), stroke, and paediatrics.

The trust’s new multi-professional preceptorship programme, launched in September 2024 in partnership with the clinical education directorate and therapies department, is designed to help new staff settle in with structured learning, supervision, networking, and protected development time.

You will be supported by an experienced team and have the chance to grow clinically and in leadership within a collaborative, encouraging setting that values service improvement, MDT working, and professional development.

Employment details

Both permanent and fixed-term positions are available. Candidates should be prepared to attend a face-to-face interview.

Main duties

The role calls for strong communication, a willingness to build clinical expertise, a proactive approach, and good organisational skills to help prioritise and manage a caseload effectively.

Once trained and assessed as competent, you will also be expected to participate in weekend working, a seven-day service, extended-day working depending on rotation, and on-call rotas.

Who the organisation is

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is an inclusive employer with disability-confident status and Gold recognition under the Armed Forces Employment Recognition Scheme. The trust offers a broad range of professional, management, leadership, and clinical training, and it places strong emphasis on work-life balance and flexible working wherever possible.

The trust serves more than 900,000 people across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, and South Buckinghamshire. Its long-term strategy, FHFT 2030, aims to make it the best place to receive care and the best place to work in the NHS, supported by values centred on excellence, teamwork, future-focused thinking, and compassionate care.

Investment across the organisation includes a new hospital at Frimley Park, major growth in diagnostics and inpatient capacity, a £100m Heatherwood Hospital, a £49m Emergency Assessment Centre at Wexham Park, and a £10m maternity upgrade. The organisation is also advancing sustainability through its green plan, NHS Net Zero commitment, on-site renewable energy, intelligent energy systems, and more environmentally responsible estate development. Digital transformation is also a priority, with Epic electronic patient record live since 2024 to support safer, more connected, and more efficient care pathways.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants must hold HCPC Physiotherapy registration and have a degree or diploma in Physiotherapy.

They should have completed a suitable number of core clinical placements during their physiotherapy training, including a respiratory placement, and be able to show competence in those placements.

A working understanding of the challenges and values involved in NHS practice is required. Experience using Epic EPR is desirable.

Skills and attributes

Ideal candidates will be able to produce clear and effective written and spoken reports, reflect on their own practice, work well under pressure, and use IT confidently.

Being able to present information to a small group would be an advantage.

Additional information

This opportunity is based in Slough, England, United Kingdom and is a full-time onsite role.

The post is described as a rotational physiotherapy position with 4-month placements across the listed specialties.
