Role overview
Metro South Health is seeking a Rostering Officer to support medical workforce operations across Medicine and Emergency. In this role, you will help keep medical rosters, payroll and workforce processes running accurately so clinical teams can focus on delivering high-quality patient care.
Key duties
- Manage detailed medical officer rosters, covering on-call duties, leave planning and workforce allocations.
- Offer guidance on rostering, payroll, industrial awards and workforce-related policies.
- Review payroll, attendance and workforce information to maintain accuracy and compliance.
- Work closely with Clinical Directors and other stakeholders to address workforce concerns and support service continuity.

You are a well-organised workforce professional who works well under pressure and enjoys handling rostering and payroll complexities. You bring practical experience and a strong service mindset to a busy healthcare environment.
- Background in rostering, payroll or workforce administration, with a strong eye for detail.
- Ability to understand industrial awards, policies and workplace procedures, or quickly build that knowledge.
- Clear communication skills and confidence working with senior clinicians and other stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and planning abilities, with the capacity to juggle priorities while protecting confidentiality.

About the hospital
Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital (QEII) is a medium-sized metropolitan adult hospital offering both inpatient and outpatient care, including a 24-hour Emergency Department. Services include surgery, cardiology, endoscopy, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, geriatric medicine, respiratory medicine and emergency medicine.
The hospital is also undergoing expansion to better serve a growing community, with additional beds, medical wards and expanded intensive care and emergency services planned for opening by 2027.
