About the Role

We are looking for a proactive Rock Tools Operational Field Support Technician to strengthen customer service and product support in the field. The position is responsible for spotting service opportunities and upcoming projects, supporting trials and quality checks, leading carbide recycling work, and coaching less experienced colleagues. In this role, you will act as an on-site driver of technical and service initiatives that help grow the business.

Responsibilities

  • Support customers and sales staff by diagnosing issues and improving processes.
  • Help deliver training for both internal and external users, including creating training content.
  • Assist with testing and confirming R&D rock tool designs used in mining applications.
  • Work with Product Application & Services and Product Line Development teams to improve product performance and support new technology development.
  • Provide technical guidance on site to help optimize drilling operations.
  • Prepare technical reports and manage field tools.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical documents and support tools for frontline teams.
  • Share product expertise across the business as a subject matter resource in assigned areas.
  • Conduct field trials, advise on tool selection, perform customer audits, and recommend improvements.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvement and help strengthen brand loyalty for Rock Tools.
  • Carry out tasks assigned by the Tools Sales & Support Representative and support the professional development of colleagues.
  • Travel locally and internationally as needed for business and customer-site work, collaborating with stakeholders in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Follow all Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality policies and requirements.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • HND or undergraduate qualification in Mining, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant trade experience.
  • Strong verbal and presentation skills.
  • Hands-on field experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and guide other team members.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Understanding of contracts, customer support, and production processes in mining and construction.
  • Valid driver’s licence and the ability to drive.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes for products.
