Role overview
RAC is hiring a Roadside Technician to join its Patrol team in the South West. This role focuses on delivering mobile vehicle repairs, diagnostics, and breakdown assistance to customers at the roadside. You will work from home at the start and end of each shift and spend your day attending call-outs in the field.
Location
Opportunities are available across the South West, including Bournemouth, Bristol, and Cheltenham.
Pay and working pattern
The role offers a base salary of £36,400 with a realistic OTE of £61,000. High performers may earn more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates. Shifts are demand-led and average 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.
What the role involves
You will diagnose faults, carry out roadside mechanical repairs, and support members during breakdown situations. The work may range from simple issues such as battery failures and tyre changes to more complex troubleshooting. The position requires a balance of technical skill, calm decision-making, and strong member service.
What you will be provided
RAC supplies a company van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic equipment so you are ready to work from day one.
Requirements
Applicants should hold a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification, or an equivalent credential, along with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience in technical, electrical, and diagnostic work. A customer-first attitude and a full UK driving licence are also required.
