Role Overview
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced risk and compliance professional to enhance our governance framework and ensure regulatory compliance across the company. This position requires close collaboration with senior leaders to monitor and interpret regulatory changes, evaluate their impact on business activities, and spearhead the development and implementation of relevant policies, frameworks, and controls. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor throughout the organization, promoting a robust compliance culture and supporting strong governance and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the assessment and interpretation of regulatory and legislative amendments and their business implications.
- Drive the application of updated regulations through revisions of policies, procedures, controls, and operational processes.
- Create, review, and manage compliance frameworks, policies, registers, and governance documentation.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to provide guidance regarding regulatory mandates, risk exposure, and compliance best practices.
- Prepare and deliver compliance reports for senior management, executive teams, and regulatory authorities.
- Support audit processes, manage complaints, and fulfill regulatory reporting requirements.
- Participate in and lead governance and compliance initiatives to reinforce the control environment.
- Conduct compliance training sessions and raise awareness across teams.
- Provide backup assistance for the operational Risk & Compliance Officer, including Health & Safety responsibilities and operational compliance tasks.
- Encourage a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Candidate Profile
- Proven track record in risk, compliance, or governance roles within financial services or other highly regulated sectors.
- In-depth experience navigating New Zealand’s regulatory environment, with a capacity to apply legal requirements practically.
- Strong familiarity with at least one regulatory area such as CCCFA, AML/CFT, Privacy Act 2020, FMCA, or Financial Advice Provider rules.
- Demonstrated skills in developing and maintaining compliance policies and governance frameworks.
- Influential leader capable of partnering effectively with senior management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication capabilities.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
- Self-reliant and adept at managing several priorities simultaneously.
- Open consideration for experienced collections or credit managers aspiring to transition into risk and compliance with proven leadership and regulatory expertise.
