Job description
Role overview
JETArch Design is an award-winning young practice focused on homes and residential schemes across Berkshire, South Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, and Surrey. The studio values inventive, sustainable design and high-quality client service. They are looking for a driven RIBA Part 1 Architectural Assistant to join the team in Wokingham and contribute across the full design process.
This opportunity suits someone who enjoys working in a small, expanding practice, wants to build their experience on varied projects, and is keen to learn from project architects. The role involves office-based collaboration for at least 2 to 3 days per week, plus attendance at site visits and meetings. Only applicants already local to the area will be considered; relocation-based applications will not be accepted.
Key duties
- Create and refine early-stage design concepts under the guidance of the project architect.
- Produce presentation-focused material, including 3D visuals for client reviews.
- Support the preparation of tender-stage and construction-stage information that aligns with the client brief and relevant planning, building, and regulatory standards.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate ideas and project details clearly to clients and the wider design team.
- Carry out site visits as required.
What they are looking for
- RIBA Part 1 qualification, or an equivalent credential.
- Strong capability in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and related design software.
- Good design sense and solid technical drawing ability.
- Helpful understanding of UK planning policy and building regulations.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- A careful, detail-focused approach with strong organisation skills.
- Flexibility to work from the office for at least 2/3 days each week and attend site meetings or surveys when needed.
Benefits and package
- Pay aligned with the Living Wage Foundation.
- 30 days of annual leave, with extra days granted for length of service.
- Additional paid time off over Christmas and New Year on top of the standard leave entitlement.
- Maternity leave in line with statutory requirements, plus up to 4 weeks of paternity leave.
- Opportunities to develop professionally and progress within the practice.
- A creative, welcoming, and inclusive workplace.
