Job description
Role Overview
As a Retail Security Officer based in Livingstone, Southern Province, Zambia, you will be instrumental in maintaining a secure environment for customers, staff, and merchandise. Your duties include serving as a visible deterrent against criminal actions, delivering excellent customer service, and promptly responding to incidents within the retail premises.
Work Schedule
The position requires working from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 and 22:00, and Sundays from 08:00 to 19:00, following a 4 on 4 off shift rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible security presence to discourage theft and disorderly conduct.
- Carry out regular patrols to ensure ongoing safety and security of the store area.
- Monitor CCTV feeds and other security devices to detect and respond to suspicious behavior.
- Conduct searches of individuals as per company policies when necessary.
- Respond swiftly to alarms and incidents, escalating issues to management or law enforcement as appropriate.
- Prepare detailed and precise incident and observation documentation.
- Coordinate with store management and staff to manage security-related issues.
- Provide professional, courteous assistance to customers, staff, and visitors.
- Assist visitors with directions and address queries.
- Manage confrontational situations through calm and professional de-escalation techniques.
- Adhere to all site-specific rules, company policies, and legal requirements.
- Support the wider security team and carry out additional tasks as instructed by the Site Supervisor or Security Manager.
Essential Qualifications
- Valid SIA License for Door Supervisor or Security Guarding is mandatory.
- Excellent observational aptitude to identify suspicious conduct.
- Proven ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism and composure.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proactive and professional commitment to safety and security.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
