Role overview

This full-time store role is a professional sales position focused on advanced support for DIY customers. The job calls for strong knowledge of store systems, automotive parts, and vehicle systems, along with the ability to help customers troubleshoot issues, identify the right parts, and support special sourcing needs through multiple channels such as special orders, FDO, and secondary sources.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a strong sales and service experience to DIY customers in person and over the phone.
• Work toward individual and store-level sales goals and service targets.
• Handle DIY service tasks such as battery installation, battery testing, and wiper installation.
• Maintain high standards for customer service and store presentation.
• Carry out key-holder duties, including assigning tasks, completing assigned work, maintaining safety, and handling opening and closing procedures.

Additional responsibilities

• Support inventory operations such as truck unloading and put-away, inventory checks, cycle counts, shoot-outs, and back-stock organization.
• Help keep the store clean and organized, including floors, bathrooms, front-facing merchandise, dusting, and the parking area.
• Continue assisting DIY customers with installation and testing services as needed.

• Comfort using inventory systems, point-of-sale tools, and store equipment.
• Solid knowledge of parts and automotive systems.

• Advanced parts lookup, sourcing, and solution-recommendation ability.
• Strong selling skills tailored to DIY customer needs.

Required capabilities

• Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic areas such as engines, suspension, brakes, electronics, and exhaust.
• Ability to speak and write in English; Spanish is an added advantage.
• Comfort reading safety instructions, operating guides, parts catalogs, and procedure documents, and writing simple correspondence.
• Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
• Completion of the Parts Knowledge Assessment.
• Accurate basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Availability to work a mix of days, evenings, and weekends.

Experience and qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of prior experience in automotive parts.
• Demonstrated sales ability with experience completing customer transactions.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• ASE certification is preferred but not mandatory; an ASE P2 certification or equivalent readiness is considered a strong advantage.

Compensation and benefits

The estimated pay range for a new hire is USD 18.85 to USD 20.98 per hour. Actual pay may vary based on location, retail experience, automotive knowledge, education, leadership background, relevant skill set, and shift differential if applicable.
