About the Role
As a Resort Mascot/Character Performer, you will play a vital role in creating an engaging and cheerful environment for Owners, Guests, and Team Members. Representing the property mascot in full costume, you will interact with families, delight children, and bring vibrancy to resort events and daily activities. Your performance will align with our service philosophy, striving to exceed guest expectations while maintaining character authenticity and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Wear and perform in a full mascot costume including head-to-toe coverage, maintaining character presence through non-verbal communication at all times. The costume fits individuals 5'0" to 5'10" tall and weighs up to 15 pounds.
- Warmly welcome guests and owners in the lobby during check-in and engage with families and children resort-wide; be available for photos ensuring a positive guest interaction.
- Participate actively in Westgate events such as Welcome Parties, Owner events, and other gatherings.
- Distribute balloons, stickers, food, and beverages to families throughout the resort.
- Frequent key resort locations including the Lobby, Waterpark, Owners’ Club House, Picnic Area, Welcome Booth, swimming pools, and other designated areas.
- Serve as a mascot handler when required to ensure guest safety and smooth interactions between guests and the mascot.
- Support lobby and sales floor guest greetings when the mascot is not in use.
- Comply with departmental training standards to maintain a seamless and consistent guest experience.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to enhance resort operations and guest engagement.
Qualifications and Skills
- Preferred 1-2 years of experience in guest relations, hospitality, customer service, or entertainment roles; prior mascot or performance experience is advantageous.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an enthusiastic and friendly demeanor.
- Ability to uphold character integrity through non-verbal performance while in costume.
- Physically able to wear a mascot costume for extended periods, including exposure to various weather conditions, and able to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Strong time management skills and reliability to adhere to schedules and event timings.
- Knowledge of safety practices related to mascot performance and guest engagement.
