About the Role
Join WSP's Cultural Heritage and Archaeology team, one of the largest heritage consultancies in the UK and Ireland, working on infrastructure projects including MetroLink in Dublin. Based primarily in Naas, County Kildare, this full-time onsite role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and requires attendance at project offices and occasional site works including weekends and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) assigned Project Archaeologist on Light Rail initiatives.
- Supervise and coordinate on-site archaeological activities related to Light Rail projects.
- Maintain comprehensive records including site diaries, photographic documentation, reports, and method statements.
- Review and assess reports and proposed staffing changes ensuring compliance with archaeological standards.
- Document site conditions, progress, incidents, delays, disputes, and variations from project specifications.
- Participate in regular site meetings, ensuring detailed minutes and communication with all relevant personnel.
- Assist with administrative aspects of archaeological service contracts.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a Level 8 (NFQ) degree in Archaeology with at least 10 years of post-graduate experience, or a Level 9 (NFQ) qualification with at least 5 years relevant experience.
- Proven experience working at a senior level under an Archaeological Code of Practice or equivalent, such as Site Director or Project Archaeologist.
- Expertise managing excavation and post-excavation processes on large infrastructure developments.
- Knowledgeable in urban and rural Irish archaeology and heritage legislation affecting TII projects.
- Experienced in preparing archaeological licence applications and heritage impact assessments.
- Possesses and maintains a valid full driving license with access to a vehicle for site visits.

Additional Information
